A household is defined as individuals residing at the same address, sharing the same postcode, house/flat number, or name.

Due to limited resources, we can only provide one award per household between May and September 2024.

Due to demand and limited resources processing applications may take several weeks. However, please note that if your household has submitted multiple applications, provided incomplete or incorrect information, or did not meet the specified criteria, your application may have been declined without notification.

To be eligible, you must be a resident of Cheshire West and Chester and provide proof of address dated within 3 months of the application date. This scheme aims to support low-income households receiving means-tested benefits, including pension credit and child benefit, who are facing difficulties in paying their energy costs. This assistance covers prepayment/smart meters, monthly direct debit costs (excluding accounts in credit), and other heating supplies. In some cases, we may also provide one-off payments to assist with the purchase of white goods. If you are a Cheshire West and Chester resident with a low income struggling to afford your energy expenses, you are encouraged to apply.

When completing our application form, please indicate that you have a smart meter by selecting “yes” to the corresponding question. There will be a follow-up question regarding your top-up method, where you should choose “at home” if you top up using an app.
