Citizens Advice Cheshire West (CACW) has received funding from Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Crisis Resilience Fund to help support households who are in, or at risk of, fuel poverty.

The CACW Crisis Resilience Fund will provide an ‘Advice First’ service supporting households in crisis by delivering:

  • Medium to long-term outcomes – through advice on energy saving, income maximisation, debt management, and any other relevant information.
  • Short-term financial support – to provide help for households to manage after a financial shock.

What do we mean by ‘financial shock’?

A financial shock is when something happens that suddenly makes it hard to afford essential living costs, for example:

  • a sudden loss of income or reduced working hours
  • an unexpected essential bill or cost
  • a delay or change to your benefits
  • illness, caring responsibilities, or a family emergency
  • urgent housing problems that put pressure on your finances
  • domestic violence situation

What the CACW Crisis Resilience Fund is not:

  • It is not the same as the Heating Bank
  • it is not “first come, first served”
  • it is not a guaranteed payment for everyone
  • It is not for help with regular money problems
  • It is not a long-term income support scheme

Support is focused on people who need it most, based on circumstances at the time. All applications will be assessed and processed individually based on need.

Whilst this fund is for helping people in crisis, we have limited resources and it is not an emergency fund. If you have an emergency please contact Cheshire West and Chester council, contact details below.
